These projects are Comenius 3 Networks under Socrates funded by the DG Education and Culture of the European Commission for periods of three years: October 2002 to October 2005; October 2005 to October 2008. - The content of these projects do not necessarily reflect the posititon of the European Community, nor does it involve any responsibility on the part of the European Community in the framework of the Socrates programme.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE NETWORK
The main objective of the network is to establish a www-supported framework for effective collaboration between different types of institutions in the field of Migration and Intercultural Relations.
The aim of the network will be to enhance today's education in migration studies and intercultural education.
In the new LearningMigration network there are close to 90 partners institutions in the network, and 13 partner countries. - two of these groups are not directly supported by the EU (Croatia and Switzerland).
THE countries are:
- Czech Republic
- Northern Ireland
- Croatia (self-funding)
................ new countries entered when LearningMigration started up (2005)
- Switzerland (self-funding)
The collaborative network is organised into WWW-supported transnational thematic groups and regional working groups composed of complementary types of institutions, namely:
- Research Centres/Archives/Libraries
- Local Schools
- Teacher training institutions
- Educational authorities (local/regional/national)
The network organises annual conferences, courses and seminars in the thematic area of Migration and Intercultural Relations. In addition, the network organises contact meetings and contact seminars that enable the initiation of new projects.
